My academic accomplishments set me apart as a copywriter who has the skill and experience to dig deeper to find what needs to be said and how best to say it.
I have a clear understanding of how words and images work together to deliver a strong, compelling message that can move an audience.
I have completed an Honors Bachelor of Fine Arts in Visual Art (BFA) and Bachelor of Arts in English (BA) from The University of Western Ontario. I then completed my Master of Arts in Humanities (MA) from Stanford University, a Master of Arts in Art History from The University of British Columbia and the better part of a PhD from The University of British Columbia where I was studying Renaissance broadsides, one of the earliest forms of advertising. While in University I won numerous awards and scholarships for my work in the fine art of communication.
In 1997 in the midst of my PHD and experiencing a growing interest in the art of persuasion, I decided to make a switch from my academic career path to pursue a career in the advertising and marketing fields.
Solid knowledge and perspective is often lacking in this industry. This is what makes me different.
Unlike many people in this business, what I say, recommend and do is never based on some obscure new theory, but on proven and tested ideas. Either I've tried and tested them myself or have studied the tests conducted by the more respected names in the industry.
I personally work on every writing project and never hand it over to a junior who is just learning or a "project manager".
I demand a lot from myself and those I work with... including my clients.
I run a small business– "Patricia Bouk Copywriting" is me. This means I can be quicker and less expensive than most big agencies.
I have access to a network of creatives and professionals. If your job needs more people, I cooperate with several partners. They are all specialists in their respective fields. So I can build a team around your project, calling in the people who are best for the job.
